Not long after the end of the season, the NFL will name the league’s Coach of the Year Award winner. The New England Patriots may be the league’s best team but head coach Bill Belicheck will not win Coach of the Year honors.
Basically there are four candidates to consider for this award:
Romeo Crennel, Cleveland Browns – The Browns only won four games a year ago and not much was expected this year. But the Browns have recovered from an opening week loss at home to Pittsburgh and have been the league’s best surprise story.
Tony Dungy, Indianapolis Colts – Dungy won a Super Bowl last year, but he may be doing a better coaching job this season. His team has overcome numerous injuries to key players and is still one of the top two teams in the league.
Mike McCarthey, Green Bay Packers – There’s optimism in Green Bay, but no one expected that the Packers could be the best team in the NFC. Defensive coordinator, Bob Sanders, has also done a tremendous job in preparing the Packers defense unit.
Wake Phillips, Dallas Cowboys – Phillips has long been one of the most underrated coaches in the league. He cares about the players and they know it. After the rough edges of Bill Parcells last year, Phillips’ calm touch of has been a breath of fresh air in Dallas.

One Response to “NFL COACH OF THE YEAR COULD BE WIDE OPEN”
Not surprising that Jack Del Rio is not on this list given that Jacksonville gets zero media coverage. Is this a list of all the coaches with the best players or the best head coach? Del Rio is getting it done without a single pro bowler. Same with Gruden and he’s not on here either.
